The conference was organized by The Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) Karachi Centre in collaboration with NED University of Engineering & Technology and the ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter.
Industry 5.0 Unleashed: Human-Machine Interaction – Requirements and Challenges

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director QEC delivered a keynote speech titled “Industry 5.0 Unleashed: Human-Machine Interaction – Requirements and Challenges” at the International Conference on Digital Transformation & Emerging Technologies (ICDTET) 2026. The conference was held on January 19-20, 2026 and it was organized by Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UMP); co-sponsored by GetInnovative4Impact of European Union (EU) Erasmus+ programme.
Review of Institutional Performance Evaluation (RIPE) by HEC
Date: 6–8 January 2026
The Review of Institutional Performance Evaluation (RIPE) of NED University under the PSG-2023 Framework (FY 2025-2026) was conducted on 6th, 7th and 8th January 2026 by HEC. During their three days of evaluation, the review team thoroughly assessed the Institutional Performance Enhancement Report (IPER) and verified all the related evidences. All the necessary support was provided to the review team by NED University to facilitate the review process.
The convener of the review panel, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid (SI) thanked the Vice Chancellor and his team for the hospitality and facilitation during RIPE process. He showed his satisfaction and appreciated the efforts of the Vice Chancellor towards enhanced quality standards at NED University.

Interactive Session on Quality Enhancement in Higher Education

The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted an engaging and insightful interactive session titled “Quality Enhancement in Higher Education: Insights, Innovation & Institutional Readiness” on 16th May, 2026. The event brought together academic leaders and quality assurance professionals to discuss emerging trends and strategic approaches in higher education.
The session featured two distinguished experts in the field of quality assurance: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi and Dr. Muhammad Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), Karachi.
During his session on “Future of Higher Education with Artificial Intelligence”, Dr. Wasif explored the transformative role of artificial intelligence in reshaping teaching, learning, and institutional quality frameworks.
The session witnessed active participation from faculty members, academic administrators, and quality assurance professionals. Attendees benefited from rich discussions, practical insights, and forward-looking strategies aimed at strengthening institutional effectiveness and academic excellence.
Workshop on Artificial Intelligence & Automation

Denning Institute of Technology & Entrepreneurship (DITE) organized a comprehensive “AI & Automation Workshop” aimed at exploring the growing role of artificial intelligence in business, everyday life and career development.
The session was conducted by Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director QEC, NED University of Engineering and Technlogy, Karachi. He highlighted on the in-depth introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Automation , practical insights into applying AI tools in real-world work environments, discussion on AI’s impact on business transformation and career opportunities and interactive learning sessions and participant engagement activities
The workshop was held on 9th May, 2026 at the DITE Bahria Town Campus, and attracted enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and professionals eager to enhance their understanding of emerging technologies.
Session on “From Quality Control to Quality Intelligence”

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell, NED University of Engineering & Technology, conducted a training session titled “From Quality Control to Quality Intelligence” on 7th May 2026. The hybrid session was organized by Dow University of Health and Science at its Ojha Campus and brought together representatives of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) from various higher education institutions.
During the session, Dr. Wasif highlighted the evolving role of quality assurance in higher education, emphasizing the transition from conventional quality control practices to data-driven quality intelligence approaches. The training provided participants with valuable insights into modern quality management strategies, continuous improvement mechanisms and the effective use of data for informed decision-making and institutional excellence.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, allowing participants to exchange experiences and explore best practices for strengthening quality assurance systems within their respective institutions.

Seminar on Best Practices in Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Malaysian Universities

A seminar on “Best Practices in Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Malaysian Universities” was successfully organized on June 22, 2026, at the Audio-Visual Hall, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NED University of Engineering & Technology.
The seminar brought together academia and quality assurance professionals from NED University and several other renowned universities. The event was attended by Chairpersons, Senior Faculty Members, and Heads of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) of other universities and institutions; providing an excellent platform for knowledge sharing and professional collaboration.
The distinguished speakers included Dr. Noorhafiza Muhammad, Associate Professor at Universiti Malaysia Perlis, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director QEC at NED University. The speakers shared valuable insights into quality assurance frameworks, institutional best practices, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement strategies adopted by Malaysian higher education institutions.
During the interactive session, participants engaged in meaningful discussions on enhancing quality standards, strengthening academic governance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within higher education institutions. The seminar provided a valuable opportunity for networking and exchange of experiences among representatives from various universities.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the speakers and participants for their active engagement and contributions toward promoting excellence in quality assurance in higher education.
Training session on “Concepts and Fundamentals of Outcome-Based Education (OBE)"

The training was organized by Sindh Higher Education Commission in collaboration with the Institute of Business Management. The session was also honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of Sindh HEC.
The session brought together faculty members and academic professionals from universities across Sindh, representing diverse disciplines including Engineering, Medical Sciences, Computer Science, Management Sciences, and Social Sciences. Visit to Pakistan Marine Academy

QECAC team comprises of Dr. Faaz Ahmed (Dy. Director I QEC), Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed (Incharge QECAC) and Mr. Agha Adeel (PA to Director QEC) visited the Pakistan Marine Academy on January 24, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to assess the functionality of the QEC specifically, and the overall academic process at PMA in general. The duration of the visit was two hours between 1000-1200 hrs. He had meetings with international office holders of Marquee University for collaboration between NED University and Marquee University. Development of Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)

Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director QEC along with the delegate of HEC, British Council and various universities visited the several universities of Brimingham and London. He visited to United Kingdom for the development of Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for the Higher Education Institutes in Pakistan on a funded project, sponsored by British Council and organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Dr. Wasif visited, University of Wolverhampton, Warwick University, University of Birmingham, Aston University and Kings College London to develop similar kind of framework for Pakistani universities.
