| The NOC from the HEC is required for each of the Master’s and PhD Programs started after November 2013 onwards. In accordance with the available QAA-HEC Guidelines, the application for the NOC is initiated by the concerned department offering the program after its approval from the Academic Council/Syndicate through the Registrar in consultation with the QEC. The NOC is issued by the QAA-HEC after completion of all formalities and compliance to the observations by the HEC Experts if any. The QAA-HEC carries out the Review of all Master’s and PhD Programs offered by the University. The Visit Panel is formed by the QAA-HEC that reviews the documents, visits the facilities and holds interactions with Students, Faculty and Deans/Chairpersons/HODs. The report is submitted to the University after HEC approval. The QEC prepares the Action Plan in consultation with the respective departments and carries out follow-up actions. In absence of the QAA-HEC Review, the University can carry out the same process as Self-Review |
Self-Post Graduate Program Review (Self-PGPR) 2025
| Self-Post Graduate Program Review (Self-PGPR) for all the programs offered in NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi was conducted on May 6th-7th ,2025. The Self-Review was conducted according to the guidelines provided by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad for the MPhil/MS and PhD programs. Prior to the visit of the team, the QEC of the University prepared the proformas designed by the QAA, HEC such as Program Review Summary, Program Proforma, faculty and scholars for Mphil/MS & PhD programs of all departments, Student Proforma and other templates. The Review Panel comprised of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Pro-Vice Chancellor as convener, Syed Waqar ul Hasan, Director QEC & Regulatory Affairs, Salim Habib University as Co-convener. Auditee team comprised of Panel physically inspected the infrastructure facilities during the visit, such as laboratories, classrooms, library. The panel also had a discussion with the faculty members, supervisors and scholars. Auditing teams include All administrative and academic officials were appreciated and acknowledged for their support and cooperation during the self-review. The Vice Chancellor and his team including QEC facilitated the review panel with elaborate discussion in a professional manner on the matters relating to the functioning of the University and enhancing the quality of teaching and research at postgraduate level. |

The Review Panels of both activities reviewed the available data/ documents and visited the selected facilities like Library, classrooms, laboratories, sports complex, hostels and IT infrastructure. The panel also interacted with the principal officers, Chairs, Deans, HoDs, faculty and students. Prof. Dr. Razak Mahar appreciated the efforts of the NED-QEC towards assurance of quality education through institutional performance evaluation.
Finally, the Review Panels had an exit meeting with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Pro-Vice Chancellor and communicated in brief their observations and recommendations. The Pro-Vice Chancellor thanked and appreciated the panel’s efforts in helping the University towards quality improvement. He also assured to take all necessary corrective actions once the formal reports are received.
HEC-QAA Review of Master & PhD 2018 Schedule
The Review Panel of Quality Assurance Agency Higher Education Commission (QAA-HEC) visited NED University of Engineering & Technology to conduct review of its Masters/PhD Programs on 5th April, 2018. The team comprised of ten members including Dr. Riaz Ahmad, Advisor, QAD-HEC and Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor, City University of Information Technology, Peshawar
On their arrival, the Review Panel was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Director QEC, NED University of Engineering and Technology. The opening meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sarosh H. Lodi. The Pro-Vice Chancellor, all Deans of Faculties, Director QEC and Deputy Directors of the QEC attended this meeting. During the opening meeting, a comprehensive presentation was delivered by Dr. Riaz Uddin, Deputy Director (QEC) detailing the Masters and PhD Programs at NED University, statuses of NOCs of programs started after November 2013, facilities, achievements and important parameters related to academics and research. The Vice Chancellor assured full cooperation and support for the smooth conduct of the review process.
During the review, the Review Panel thoroughly assessed the University’s Masters/PhD programs and verified all the related evidences. The Review Panel also visited research and academic facilities of the NED University such as Virtual Reality Lab and Classroom etc. They also interacted separately with research students of all Masters/PhD programs and research supervisors. In addition, they also conducted as separate meeting with HODs, Deans, Controller of Examinations and Secretary, Advanced Studies Research Board (ASRB).
The review process was concluded with the closing meeting headed by the Vice Chancellor. Head of the QAA-HEC Review Panel thanked the Vice Chancellor and NED University team for the hospitality and facilitation during review process. He also suggested few areas of attention for future improvements. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the deep involvement of the review panel for their observations and assured positive considerations on their suggestions.
